  • KOFIC's Ko-production in Beijing at 5th Beijing International Film Market

  • In order to strengthen the relationship between Korea and China, Korean Film Council (KOFIC, Chairman KIM Sae-hoon) attended 5th the Beijing International Film Market which started on 17th of April. The Beijing International Film is the largest film festival in China.

    The Korean Film Center serves as a base for KOFIC and Korean companies during the film market. The booth opened on Friday the 17th until Monday the 20th, where all Korean film-related materials could be found.

    KOFIC also organized a special opportunity to learn about Korean VFX companies. The VFX Showcase from Korea in Beijing was called ‘Fantasy, dreaming of it,’ scheduled for Friday the 17th of April. More than 100 experts from China’s film industry took part in this event. The Ko-production in Beijing is a co-production project where Korean productions are introduced to local Chinese investors to seek partners for joint productions.

    KIM Sae-hoon, Chairman of KOFIC, participated in the Beijing Film Market as his first official overseas activity after KOFIC appointed him as chairman. He discussed the plan to expand the increase opportunities for Korea and China to work together.

    KIM also met with Zhang Hong Sen of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of The People's Republic of China on April 18th. They discussed furthering the partnership between the two countries in order to develop and expand the film industries. Through the meeting, they came into agreement to host the China Film Festival together, which is to be held in October this year in Korea. The same day, Chairman KIM met with La Peikang who is the CEO of China Film Group. They discussed growing technical services and exchanges of services in co-production projects as well as cross-building measures. on April 19th, Chairman KIM met Miao Xiaotian of China Film Co-production Corporation. They agreed to exchange information and collaborate between Korean and Chinese organizations, while planning to expand the domestic approval of the co-production status of films.
