CJ ENM, which was the best performing distributor last year, has put out nine films to attract 14.9 million moviegoers and earn USD 107.2 million, making it the second best local distributor with a total market share of 15.5% for the first half of this year. In July,
Disney maintained the lead in Korea with
Incredibles 2 and
Ant-Man and the Wasp currently topping the box office. The former collected 1,364,725 moviegoers in first days of release, while the latter attracted 5,203,093 moviegoers in three weeks, easily entering the top 10 for most watched
Disney films of all time in Korea. The most watched
Disney movie in Korea remains
Avengers: Infinity War. This super-hero film is the second biggest foreign box office hit in the country with 11,209,831 moviegoers (the first being
Avatar). Along with
Walt Disney’s
The Avengers: Age of Ultron and
Frozen, it sold more than 10 million tickets.
