Indian drama Dangal has reached the 100,000-viewer mark since it was released about a month ago. Although the box office number is less than 3 Idiots, the highest grossing Indian film in Korea, it carries a symbolic meaning as it went against successful Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Produced in 2016, Dangal is one of the most successful films in India and has already topped the Chinese box office for 13 days. Indeed, Dangal and 3 Idiots are both examples of big Indian hits all over Asia, and they have one thing in common: they star Aamir KHAN. In 3 Idiots, KHAN played an idiot-like genius and in PK, a naïve alien. The films both became hits with respectively 459,686 and 45,301 viewers in Korea. In Dangal, KHAN plays wrestler Mahavir who was forced by his father to give up his hope of becoming a gold medalist but finally makes his dream come true after he realizes his daughter has a gift and starts training her. The movie has currently sold 108,377 tickets in Korea. In addition, Secret Superstar, which has not been released in Korea yet, also stars Aamir KHAN and is currently being screened in China after its success in India. The actor is definitely bankable not only in Bollywood's scene but also throughout Asia.
