First 19-Rated Film to Pass 3 Million Admissions
Kingsman: The Secret Service (henceforth Kingsman) is doing well. According to the
Korean Film Council’s Integrated Ticket Sales Network on March 2nd, the film had brought in 3,375,572 audiences.
Kignsman not only took the first place at the weekend box office, it also became the best performed foreign film that received restricted rating in Korea. The film sold a million tickets within the first eight days of its release, 2 million by the 11th day and by the 3rd week, it had reached the 3 million point.
Detective K: Secret of the Lost Island which had its share of buzz during the Lunar New Year Holiday has been dying down, while Kingsman is doing the opposite.
Out of the 19 and up films released after 2000, there are only three titles that were able to cross the 2 million admissions mark, which includes Kingsman. 300 (2007) recorded 2,929,400 in ticket sales while Taken 2 (2012) recorded 2,308,596. Kingsman had beat signature action star Liam Neeson as well as the march of shirtless macho men.
