The charm of Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok) comes from unexpectedness. Although he has a muscular body and big arms that are almost as large as the waist of an average woman, this tough guy earned cute nicknames like ‘Box Office Fairy’ and ‘Mavely’, which is a portmanteau of MA and lovely. This is because he is adorable and kind beneath his tough look. He used to play cruel villains in the beginning, but his roles have started to see some changes. He expanded his acting range with characters that had comic and cute personalities. Moreover, most of his movies or TV series since his debut have been successful. He became one of the most popular character actors in Korea, with THE OUTLAWS (2017) being his biggest success, followed by TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016). Currently, sports drama film Champion has already attracted more than 850,000 moviegoers. It follows the story of Korean adoptee Mark on his journey from the U.S to become an arm-wrestling champion in Korea. LEE will also play a new god, Seong-joo, in upcoming fantasy Along with the Gods: This World Chapter this summer. Don LEE is as big in the box office as his trademark arms.
