Contenders for the Golden Week Box Office
Twelve-day-long holidays begin from April 29th and last to May 9th, because there are May Day, Children’s Day, Buddha’s Birthday and the presidential election. Although May 2nd, 4th and 8th are not days off, a lot of companies and schools will be closed in this weekdays interspersed with holidays.
It will be one of the peak seasons in the nation’s theaters. Korean films with expectations and Hollywood blockbusters as well as animations for Children’s Day are set to go.
Two local films will come head to head on April 26th: comedy
The King’s Case Note, good for “Family Month”, and election drama
The Mayor which has an unexpected benefit of the early presidential election.
LEE Sun-kyun and
CHOI Min-shik are starring in the films, respectively. On April 27th and 28th of the same week,
Tobot: Attack of the Robot Army which is based on popular animated series in Korea and
Smurfs: The Lost Village, the traditional strong, will entice children.
Warriors on May 3rd are tough, too. Blockbuster
