KIM Min-hee picked the Silver Bear for Best actress for her leading role in Hong Sangsoo’s film On the Beach at Night Alone at the Berlin International Film Festival, which closed on February 19th. She is the first Korean performer to earn the prize at the festival. Meanwhile, JUNG Jae-young won the Best Actor awards for Right Now, Wrong Then (2015) at the Locarno International Film Festival and the Internacional de Cine de Gijón.Actors and Actresses in Hong’s films show another side of themselves which is different from images they have gained so far, and perform several times in Hong’s films. KIM Sang-kyung used to be known as a gentle guy, but got a new image as a worthless intellectual in On the Occasion Of Remembering The Turning Gate (2002). The combination of LEE Sun-kyun and Hong Sangsoo is also considerable. LEE has appeared in four films of the director; Our Sunhi (2013), Nobody’s Daughter Haewon, Oki’s Movie (2010) and Night And Day (2008).Meanwhile, the most familiar actress in Hong’s fillms is JUNG Yu-Mi. She has performed characters like a spunky film student or an affable daughter of a small hotel runners in his movies like Our Sunhi, In Another Country, Oki’s Movie, Like You Know It All as well as List. YEA Ji-won broke into Hong’s world in On the Occasion Of Remembering The Turning Gate, and continued to act in Our Sunhi, Nobody’s Daughter Haewon and Hahaha, while MOON So-ri appeared in Hill of Freedom (2014) and In Another Country after she surprised audiences in Hahaha.
