New York Korean Film Festival Returns for 13th Edition

NYKFF to Open with HONG Won-chan’s OFFICE

The New York Korean Film Festival, put on by Subway Cinema (New York Asian Film Festival) and the Korea Society and supported by the Korea Foundation, is returning for its 13th edition in November at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. NYKFF has assembled a program that is designed to highlight “Korea doing what it does best: the crime thriller, the romantic fantasy, and feverish erotica.” Opening this year’s festivities will be HONG Won-chan’s Cannes-invited thriller-horror Office. Both director HONG and star KO Asung (Snowpiercer) will be present for the gala.

Other titles with guests this year include the hit action-comedy Veteran, for which director RYOO Seung-wan and producers KANG Hae-jung and PARK Jung will be present. SHIN Su-won’s Madonna, OH Seung-uk’s The Shameless (which both debuted in Cannes Un Certain Regard lineup this year), LEE Do-yun’s Confession and KANG Hyo-jin’s Wonderful Nightmare will each be represented by their directors at NYKFF.

In addition, BONG Man-dae’s Trap will be presented as an international premiere, and popular summer titles Assassination from CHOI Dong-hoon and BAIK’s The Beauty Inside are also part of this year’s lineup.

NYKFF will take place over 6-13 November.
