KAFA to Hold a Special Event to Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Its Feature Film Directing Program

Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA) is holding a special event in September to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its feature film directing program, called “KAFA: Ten-year-old Story.” For promotional ambassadors, LEE Je-hoon of Bleak Night(2011) and KIM Go-eun of Canola (2016) have been appointed.

 

KAFA was established by Korean Film Council (KOFIC) in 1984 to produce distinguished human resources in Korean film industry. HUR Jin-ho of Christmas in August (1998), BONG Joon-ho of Snowpiercer (2013) and Memories Of Murder (2003), CHOI Dong-hoon of The Thieves (2012) and Assassination (2015), KIM Tae-yong of Late Autumn (2011) and MIN Kyu-dong of The Treacherous (2015) are some of the KAFA graduates.

 

The feature film directing program was established in 2007 to promote the actual production skills of rookie filmmakers. Most of “diversity films” that made great news for the past few years are products of this program, which include Bleak Night, End of Animal (2011), INGtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls (2013), Socialphobia (2015), Alice In Earnestland (2015) and The Boys Who Cried Wolf released on June 2nd. “KAFA: Ten-year-old Story” is to screen 10 feature films made from the feature film directing program and some other films made by directors from KAFA.

 

“KAFA: Ten-year-old Story” is to be held from August 31st through September 7th. Other details including the screening venue and schedule are to be updated in due course.
