Will be First Movie from Production Team Behind Hit TV Series DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN
The upcoming war blockbuster Ansi Fortress (translated title), which stars ZO In-sung, finished filming and is now in post-production. “It began shooting on August 23rd last year and completed five-months of filming at the end of January.” its distributor NEW said.
Ansi Fortress chronicles the Siege of Ansi, centering around YANG Man-chun, the castellan of the walled city of Ansi which was located near the border of the ancient Korean kingdom of Goguryeo. Though the protagonist YANG Man-chun won the war, there has been very little written about him and this movie will shed light on his historic triumph.
This period drama was directed by KIM Kwang-sik, who made his debut with the romantic comedy My Dear Desperado (2010). In addition to ZO, who plays the role of YANG Man-chun, Ansi Fortress features PARK Sung-woong, BAE Sung-woo, NAM Joo-hyuk, PARK Byung-eun and Seol-hyun. Ansi Fortress is the first feature film project by Studio & New, which is a subsidiary of NEW. Since being established in September of 2016, Studio & New has produced various hit TV series, including Descendants of the Sun (2016). With Ansi Fortress, which had a production budget of USD 13.8 million, Studio & New has entered film production. Ansi Fortress is now in the post-production stage for release later this year.
