Born in 1978, HEO Jeong-do grew up in a Christian family that had produced many pastors. When he was a teenager, his doubts about religion and the political climate of the time led him to question life purpose and take an interest in philosophy, which he studied at Seoul National University. Later on, he qualified as a teacher and started an internship at a high school, but he was not really satisfied with his work there. One day, his eyes laid on a poster about an English-language theater festival and looking for actors to participate in a production of Shakespeare’s <A Midsummer Night’s Dream>. HEO decided to give it a go and thus made his stage debut in 2004. Soon thereafter, however, he was conscripted to Korea’s 2-year-long mandatory military service, and HEO decided he would use that time to decide whether to pursue an acting career or not. Two years later, more determined than ever, he entered the Korea National University of Arts and started to appear in short movies. In 2012, he moved to television with bit roles in series, before receiving his first major roles in the 2015 show <Mrs. Cop> and the historical espionage film <Assassination> (2015). He followed it up with a supporting role in <Like for Likes> (2015). More recently, he could be seen in the hit drama <A Taxi Driver> (2017) and the indie <Baseball Girl> (2019).
