KIM Ye-eun, born in 1989, studied visual design, inspired by her mother who worked in that field, but also had a strong interest in acting since high school. She would take part in the filming of various short movies and commercials as a production assistant, in the hope of learning from observing professional actors. The only time she considered pursuing a directing career was when she was growing desperate to ever get a role, as this would have allowed her to cast herself. After more than a year of self-studying, she passed the entrance exam of an acting school and finally got to receive proper training. Through contacts she made working on sets, she got to finally appear before the camera, in a few short movies. She then joined theatre companies and participated in four stage productions. It was in horror film <The Chosen: Forbidden Cave> (2015) that she landed her first major role. After that, she appeared in bit roles in <Innocent Thing> (2013) and <Assassination> (2015), and played supporting in several indie drama films such as <The Boys Who Cried Wolf> (2015), <Microhabitat> (2017) and <In Between Seasons> (2018). She was one of the leads in the surprise hit historical drama <A Resistance> (2018), and even managed to be cast in the first Korean-language Netflix Original series, <Kingdom> (2019).
