Park Baeil is currently working in an independent film group, Ozifilm. Dreaming of a world without any discrimination against workers, women and people with disabilities, he worked on several documentary projects, starting with <Just Their Christmas> (2007), which followed an old lady in his neighborhood. His first non-fiction feature <Cruel Season>, revolving around garbage collectors, debuted in 2010 at the Busan International Film Festival. Next came <Sea of Butterfly>, another Busan invitee, about a married couple of persons with a brain injury, and subsequently <Miryang Arirang - Legend of Miryang 2>, which debuted at the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in 2014, which documents the opposition of a village against the construction of a power-line towee. Park's film about grandmothers protesting the placement of American missile defense system THAAD in their village, <Soseongri>, won the BIFF Mecenat Award at the 2017 Busan International Film Festival. He then filmed the last days of an independent cinema in Busan in <Last Scene> (2018), construction workers organizing a sit-in in <Sasang: The Town on Sand> (2020), and more recently returned to the topic of people’s opposition to power-line towers with <Land of the Face> (2021).Less
