HAH Myung-joong was one of the most popular actors in the 1970s. His directorial debut was with <Blazing Sun> (1984), which was selected for competition in the Berlin Film Festival. Younger brother of [HA Gil-jong], who directed <The March of Fools> (1975), Hah started his acting career in TV dramas. After crossing over to the big screen, Hah appeared in as many as 70 movies. He was an original Hallyu star who was invited to appear in Hong Kong movies through Hong Kong Show Brothers in the late 1960s. He was a student of movies in his acting years, studying every aspect of filmmaking. So much so that his brother was reported to have suggested that HAH shift his career to directing. After directing <The Pinwheel that Spins Alone> (1991), HAH concentrated on movie production and distribution of foreign movies, but has recently came back to directing with two new releases in the late 2000s.
