Majoring in Visual Design, YOON Hwang-jik began to learn special makeup under the late LEE Chang-man of LCM, an outstanding special makeup designer in the Korean film industry during the 2000s. YOON started his career as an assistant at LCM for such films as <R-Point> (2004) and <The Big Swindle> (2004). YOON founded his own company Geppetto in 2010 and has been working for more than 20 films since <Man of Vendetta> (2010). The most noticeable films out of his filmography include <Sunny> (2011), <The Tower> (2012), <Secretly, Greatly> (2013), <Han Gong-ju> (2013) and <Tazza-The Hidden Card> (2014), to name a few. However, it was <My Brilliant Life> (2014) that gave YOON recognition as a talented special makeup director. Collaborating with the famous Hollywood special makeup designer Greg Cannom, YOON created the heartbreaking face of a 16 year old boy suffering from progeria syndrome, which resembled <The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button> (2008). Unlike other experts in this field, YOON has mostly focused on prosthetic makeup on human faces, rather than animatronics or dummies. Instead of manufacturing fabricated bodies and props, he prefers to work closely with actors, as the quality of special makeup can be differentiated based on his communication and collaboration with actors. YOON is tackling more films in 2015, including the SONG Kang-ho starring historical drama <The Throne >, mystery thriller <The Phone(W/T) > and horror fantasy <Toe-ma-sa>.
