Born in 1978, YOON Se-a majored in drama and film at Yong In University and made her first step into cinema after beating 200 hopefuls in an open audition for <Blood Rain> (2004), a Joseon Dynasty-set murder mystery film. Just a few months later, she moved to television, playing one of the main characters against JEON Do-yeon and KIM Joo-hyuk in romance series <Lovers in Prague> (2005). While she continued to appear on the big screen once in a while, most notably in another period crime mystery title, <Shadows in the Palace> (2007), and in a segment of anthology film <Doomsday Book> (2011) co-directed by KIM Jee-woon and YIM Pil-sung, it is in television that she really made her name, as she became typecast in the roles of romantical rivals in melodramas such as <Wife Returns> (2009-2010), one of her most popular works. YOON’s first lead role came with the drama series <You Are So Pretty> (2010) and she grew in reputation when in 2012 she took part in the reality TV show <We Got Married>. After appearing in LEE Yoon-ki’s romance film <A Man and A Woman> (2015) and venturing into the thriller genre with LEE Soo-yeon’s <Bluebeard> (2017) and the hit series <Stranger>, YOON’s participation in the satirical drama series sensation <Sky Castle> (2018-2019) marked a turning point in her career, with a performance that earned her a nomination at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Her role in <Stranger> was given more screentime in Season 2, and she was last seen in cinema making a cameo in the political satire <HONEST CANDIDATE> (2019).
