Born in 1977, KIM Young-min started making short films in his college years, with KIM Bang-hyun who would become his longtime collaborator. He was part of the production team of drama <Over the Border> (2006), about the romantic dilemma of a North Korean refugee, and the gambling drama <Tazza: The High Rollers> (2006). He was given his first job as a unit production manager for the historical melodrama <The Sword With No Name> (2009), and was first credited as main producer in the crime comedy <Hello Murderer> (2010). In 2011, he established with KIM Bang-hyun the company MCMC and executive produced under this new name spy action comedy <Secretly Greatly> (2013), which sold just less than 7 million tickets. He has also conceptualized for Showbox the GONG Yoo vehicle <The Suspect> (2013), another film following a faction war among North Korean undercover agents. He has most recently co-produced thriller <The Vanished> (2017).
