KIM Soo-Jin has a keen eye for spotting talented new directors and a detail-oriented and yet aggressive business sense. She has had a long career in the film business that started in 1989. She imported French movies, such as <Les Amants Du Pont-Neuf> and <Leon>, which were successful at the box office and co-produced <A Petal> and <Bad Movie> (Timeless, Bottomless) by JANG Sun-woo. After her studies at the American Film Institute, she worked at Joel Silver Production and Warner Brothers. In 2004, she founded Bidangil Pictures and produced <Forbidden Quest> by KIM Dae-woo to rave reviews. KIM’s knack for finding new talent was highlighted with the enormous success of <The Chaser> directed by a new face, NA Hong-jin, as the movie sold more than five million tickets when the Korean film industry was in a slump during the late-2000s. As a producer, she has shown competence in excavating new subject matters for commercial films by working with novice directors. These films include <The Scam>, a story about stock manipulation and <Showdown>, the debut feature of PARK Hoon-jung. In 2012, she had another success with director JO Sung-hee’s first commercial film <A Werewolf Boy>, which attracted more than 7 million viewers.
