After graduation, he contributed to the production of a few long feature movies, most notably <Whispering Corridors> and <The Secret>, before distinguished himself with his first short movies. Most notably, his directorial debut <28th October 1979, A Sunny Sunday> (1999) received the award for Best Film in the Wide Angel section of the Busan International Film Festival. This film and his next one, <Uncle 'Bar' At Barbershop> (2000), also allowed him to accomplish the unusual feat of winning two years in a row Best Short Film at the Grand Bell Awards. He directed in 2004 his first long feature film, the anti-romcom S DIARY, soon followed by drama film <Sad Movie>. In 2017, he made a successful comeback after six years with <Proof of Innocence>.
