Decision to Leave Made the Shortlist for International Feature Films at the Academy Awards


 

Decision To Leave made the shortlist for the International Feature Films at the 95th Academy Awards announced by the event organizer Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). 

 

The Academy Awards selects and announces 15 preliminary candidates out of 92 countries' entries for the International Films section through the shortlist every year before the awards ceremony. After that, 5 final nominees will officially be announced from the shortlist of 10 to 15 preliminary candidates. 

 

Along with Decision to Leave, the 15 shortlisted films for the International Films section include Argentina, 1985 (Argentina), Corsage (Austria), Close (Belgium), Return to Seoul (Cambodia), Holy Spider (Denmark), Saint Omer (France), All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Last Film Show (India), The Quiet Girl (Ireland), Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (Mexico), The Blue Caftan (Morocco), Joyland (Pakistan), EO (Poland), and Cairo Conspiracy (Sweden). 

 

Director Park Chanwook’s Decision to Leave tells the story of a detective, Haejun (Park Haeil), who investigates a murder and suspects and has an interest in Seorae (Tang Wei), the wife of the victim of the crime. The film won Best Director at the 75th Festival de Cannes and has been nominated as the best non-English language film at the 80th Golden Globe Awards slated for January 10, 2023. It has been also nominated as the best foreign film for the 28th Critics Choice Awards taking place on January 15, 2023. 

 

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
