Director Hwang Donghyuk, Preparing for Killing Old Men Club, His Next Film

Director Hwang Donghyuk participated in the MipTV event at the International Video Content Fair in Cannes, France, and unveiled his next film plan. The U.S. media Variety reported that Director Hwang said he was preparing for Killing Old Men Club.

According to Variety, Director Hwang's new film is said to have been inspired by a novel written by Italian writer Umberto Eco. Hwang said, “I have already written a 25-page storyline. The new film will cause another controversy because it will be more violent than Squid Game.”

Director Hwang also talked about his experience of receiving rave reviews about Squid Game from Director Steven Spielberg while attending the American Film Institute (AFI) Award ceremony in March. Steven Spielberg said to Hwang Donghyuk, "I watched your whole show in three days, and now I want to steal your brain!" Director Hwang said, "It was like the biggest compliment I ever got in my life because he's my film hero. I grew up watching his movies,” recalling the moment he met Steven Spielberg.

Director Hwang Donghyuk is currently working on various invitation schedules overseas, but he is planning to return to Korea to write the script for Squid Game Season 2.
