RA Mi-ran, GIM Mu-yeol and NA Moon-hee Campaign for HONEST CANDIDATE

Political Drama Kicked Off Production on June 15

Actors RA Mi-ran, GIM Mu-yeol, NA Moon-hee and YUN Gyeong-ho have joined forces for the upcoming election comedy Honest Candidate (translated title), which entered production on June 15. The film is the latest from Finding Mr. Destiny (2010) and The Bros (2017) director CHANG You-jeong.

RA plays Joo Sang-sook, a three-term congresswoman who is an expert liar but one day, following an unexpected incident, she finds herself compelled to tell the truth as she embarks on her reelection campaign.

Known as one of Korea’s top character actors, RA Mi-ran recently scored a sleeper hit as a lead with the female buddy cop action-comedy Miss & Mrs. Cops. RA has appeared in a political drama before, in 2017’s The Mayor, playing the rival candidate to CHOI Min-shik’s character.

GIM, who plays Sang-sook’s aide Hee-cheol, was recently on screens in a hit of his own, alongside Don LEE (aka MA Dong-seok) in the thriller The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, which debuted as a midnight screening at the Cannes Film Festival last month. Other recent credits include KIM Jee-woon’s ILLANG : THE WOLF BRIGADE (2018).

Legendary actress NA Moon-hee of Miss Granny (2014) and I Can Speak (2017) plays OK-hee, Sang-sook’s only relative, while YUN Gyeong-ho, recently seen in the hit dinner party comedy Intimate Strangers (2018) and the trial comedy Juror 8, is playing Sang-sook’s husband.

Honest Candidate, which will be distributed by Next Entertainment World, is expected to hit theatres at some point in 2020.
