DAD IS PRETTY Honored at Overseas Film Festivals

Major Awards from India’s Queer Film Festival and American CINEMAFEST



Korea’s independent film Dad is Pretty picked up several prizes at overseas film festivals. On December 10th last year, the film won the Grand Jury Award and the Best Director Award at the 2nd Formosa Festival of International Filmmaker Award (FFIFA), while it received Best Picture and Best Actor at the Out & Loud – Pune International Queer Film Festival, which took place on April 6th this year in India. In addition, the indie film picked up the Gold Feature at the CINEMAFEST Awards in the United States, Best International Feature Fiction at the London Labour Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature at the Trenton Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the Noida International Film Festival. 

In this family comedy, Deok-jae is stuck in his job as a section chief but finds a new life when he gets to know a drag queen bar called Hawaii. Directed by PARK Soo-min, Dad is Pretty stars KIM Myeong-gook, BAEK Seo-bin, SON Min-ji and JIN Sun-mi. Co-produced by UB Contents and Gonggam Studios, its pre-production cost was supported by the Busan Film Commission (BFC) in 2015 while the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) contributed in 2016 to the post-production cost.
