IM Chang-jung and JUNG Ryeo-won Wrap Production on GATE

Comedy References Recent Presidential Scandal

Actors IM Chang-jung and JUNG Ryeo-won have completed production on their upcoming project Gate after three months of filming. The film is the first to reference the recent political scandal that led to the impeachment of President PARK Geun-hye due to her relationship with confidante CHOI Soon-sil. Director SHIN Dong-yeob is holding the reigns while veteran character actor LEE Gyoung-young also features in a supporting role.

Gate will be a comic tale about an up-and-coming prosecutor whose work on an investigation is jeopardized due to amnesia caused by car accident.

A popular singer who rose to prominence in the film scene alongside JUNG Woo-sung 20 years ago in Beat (1997), IM has become a major star, particularly known for comic and romantic fare such as Sex Is Zero (2002) and Miracle on 1st Street (2007). Meanwhile JUNG, star of cult classic Castaway on the Moon (2009), hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2012’s Never Ending Story

Co-star LEE has been one of the most active performers in the commercial arena over the last years, appearing in The Merciless, Pandora (2016) and Inside Men (2015) among many others. Director SHIN previously worked with IM and LEE on 2015’s Untouchable Lawmen and has worked in a variety of genres. Gate will be his eighth feature film and is due to be released in the second half of this year.
