During the event, the 7 Korean films invited to this year’s Berlin Film Festival include: indie filmmakers LEESONG Hee-il’s Night Flight, Kelvin Kyung Kun PARK’s A Dream of Iron, LEE Yong-seung’s 10 Minutes and JUNG Yoon-suk’s Non-fiction Diary as well as Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer, Gina KIM’s Final Recipe and YOON Ga-eun’s Sprout were invited.  KOFIC stated that “Although there were no Korean films in competition this year, there were a fair share of invites to other sections such as Panorama, Forum and Generation where they attracted great interest.”

In addition, the European Film Market during the festival helped increase interest in Korean films and created new opportunities. SHIM Sung-bo’s Haemu (W/T) has been pre-sold to Japan and France while the rights to Rough Play and Red Family have also been sold. KOFIC explained that “Through the numerous business meetings we’ve arranged through the Korean Film Center, we were able to acknowledge the level of popularity Korean films have gained in the European market.” The Korean Film Center will be open until the 16th of February.
