Untitled 19th Film Currently Shooting in Gangwon-do Province

Reuniting almost exactly a year after filming the critically-acclaimed Right Now, Wrong Then, director HONG Sang-soo is currently shooting his new film with stars KIM Min-hee and JUNG Jae-young. The 19th film from the celebrated auteur is currently shooting in Gangneung in the Gangwon-do Province. As always with HONG’s films, beyond the main cast and shooting location, nothing is known about the project.

Last year, Right Now, Wrong Then, the first collaboration between HONG and KIM, and the second between HONG and JUNG (their first was Our Sunhi in 2013), debuted at the Locarno International Film Festival, where it picked up the Golden Leopard, the top prize at the event, and the Best Actor accolade for JUNG. The film also took home Best Film and Best Actor awards from the Gijón International Film Festival, Best Actor from the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, and the Grand Prize and Best Actress awards from the Busan Film Critics Association Awards.

Following Right Now, Wrong Then, JUNG appeared in the workplace comedy YOU CALL IT PASSION last year while KIM will be seen this year in PARK Chan-wook’s highly anticipated period thriller The Handmaiden.

While HONG’s 19th film will likely debut somewhere on the festival circuit later this year, he also recently completed an 18th project with actor KIM Joo-hyuk, also expected this year.
