Cloud Atlas gets raves reviews after its Toronto premiere

At the 37th Toronto International Film Festival Korean actress BAE Doo-na took part in the red carpet event for the new sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas, directed by Tom TYKWER and the WACHOWSKIS. BAE's appearance attracted much media attention during the event.

BAE was in the spotlight on the red carpet, just before her film had its world premiere at Toronto. The event was also attended by co-directors Andy WACHOWSKI, Lana WACHOWSKI and Tim TYKWER along with Tom HANKS, Halle BERRY, Hugh GRANT, Hugo WEAVING and Susan SARANDON. Cloud Atlas is based on a novel by David MITCHELL and has six different interwoven plotlines. One of the many reasons it has drawn media attention is that it is the first Hollywood film for BAE.

BAE plays "Sonmi-451." a clone who fights against violent humans in the year 2144. She walked the red carpet dressed in a revealing white one-piece with a plunging neckline.

After the premiere of the film, there was a ten minute standing ovation. Entertainment Weekly said that the audience's reaction was sizzling and that BAE made a deep impression, adding that her eyes welled up with tears upon hearing the audience's reaction. The New Yorker also reported that BAE's performance in the film was marvellous. Cloud Atlas, being distributed by Warner Brothers, will be released in the U.S. on October 26th and released in Korea on January 10th, 2013.
