In 2024, countless Korean TV series will continue to be released where and a number of series are being produced. As the industry thrives, the scheduling details are generating as much excitement as casting announcements. From season-based dramas expanding successful IPs to original webtoon adaptations in video projects, each with its unique strengths, these productions have secured their places in respective new lineups. Across television and OTT platforms, we have compiled a list of confirmed series set to be unveiled, with a focus on major channels.

 

"Firstly, South Korea's renowned actor, Song Kang-ho's first series production is set to release. It is the much-anticipated Uncle Samsik which is confirmed to be released in the first half of the year on Disney+. The series is directed and written by Shin Yeon-shik, the mastermind behind scripts for movies such as Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet and Cobweb.

 

Starring Kim Tae-ri, tvN's Jeong-nyeon is based on a webtoon of the same name set against the backdrop of female theater(Guggeuk). The MBC series Chief Detective 1958, a prequel to a legendary hit from the 1970s to 1980s, takes a time loop journey back to 1958 with the talented actor Lee Je-hoon. Directed by Kim Sung-hoon, known for his work on films such as Confidential Assignment and Rampant, this series is scheduled to air in the first half of this year.

 

The <Weak Hero> series, originally released as a Wave Original, is now moving to Netflix, teasing a sequel that will unfold in a new school setting.

 

JTBC's Good Boy, featuring the highly anticipated on-screen chemistry of Park Bo-gum and Kim So-hyun, is a unique youth drama centered around medal-winning individuals who become police officers. It is scheduled to air in the second half of the year.

 

The Tving original series I am a Running Mate marks the directorial debut of Han Jin-won, who, alongside director Bong Joon-ho, won the Best Original Screenplay award at the 92nd Academy Awards for the film Parasite. Set to premiere in the first half of the year, the series is a lively political drama centered around teenagers.
