THE WITCH Star Teams Up with RE-ENCOUNTER Director
After breaking out last year following her leading role in the hit action-mystery-drama The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion, KIM Da-mi is preparing to headline her next project, which will be the drama Hello, My Soulmate (working title). The film is the feature debut of MIN Yong-keun.
Hello, My Soulmate will follow the ups and downs of a 14 year-long friendship between two girls, who first meet when they are 13.
Prior to her breakout, KIM was also seen in the mystery-drama Marionette (2018) in a supporting role alongside LEE Yoo-young. Meanwhile, KIM is also expected to reprise her role in an eventual sequel to The Witch. KIM was awarded the Cheval Noir for Best Actress Award at last year’s Fantasia International Film Festival and swept up the Best New Actress prizes from most of Korea’s industry awards shows over the last year.
Director MIN previously made the award-winning feature film Re-encounter, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival in 2010, as well as the short films The Bicycle Thief (2014) and Dancing Cat (2015).
Lezhin Studios, a new investor in the Korean film scene which is also behind the upcoming YEON Sang-ho-scripted series Method, is producing the project, which is expected to go before cameras in the first half of 2020.
