COIN LOCKER GIRL Director’s Action-Drama Features KONG Hyo-jin, RYU Jun-yeol

According to international trade magazine Screen Daily, Korean distributor Showbox has scored several deals for its new action-drama Hit-and-Run Squad. From Coin Locker Girl (2015) director HAN Jun-hee, the film features KONG Hyo-jin, RYU Jun-yeol and JO Jung-suk.

Among the international distributors that acquired the title are 815 Pictures for North America, CJ E&M HK (Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand), JBG Pictures (Australia and New Zealand), Megaton (Hong Kong), Movie Cloud (Taiwan), New Select, (Japan), Shaw Renters (Singapore), Viva Communications (the Philippines) and Westec Media (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam), while Emphasis picked the film’s global in-flight rights, minus Korea.

GONG, recently seen in the horror-thriller Door Lock (2018), stars as an officer kicked down to a traffic division who teams up with her new partner, played by RYU Jun-yeol (A Taxi Driver, 2017), to take down a rich speed-freak played by JO Jung-suk of The Drug King (2018). HAN’s debut Coin Locker Girl (2015) premiered in the Critics’ Week program of the Cannes Film Festival.

Hit-and-Run Squad opened domestically on January 30 in time for the local Lunar New Year festivities and debuted in second place behind the current smash hit Extreme Job. As of February 12, the film had reached 1.76 million admissions (USD 13.09 million).
