L Joe, a member of K-pop boy band Teen Top has been tapped for the lead role in upcoming Korea-Japan co-production Trumpet on the Cliff.
Directed by Korean director HAN Sang-hee, Trumpet on the Cliff is a drama that portrays a weak girl with a transplanted heart and her romance with a man playing the trumpet. The film is set in a small island in Okinawa, Japan. With Japan's rising star Sakuraba Nanami, who won the best newcomer award at the 2012 Japan Academy Awards, playing the girl, L Joe will take the male lead, Ji-oh, in the film.
HAN previously directed another Korea-Japan co-production Virgin Snow that featured Korea's LEE Joon-gi and Japan's MIYAZAKI Aoi.
Though Trumpet is L Joe's silver screen debut, he has acting experiences in a few TV series, including tvN’s Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit and OCN's Missing Noir M.
L Joe debuted in 2010 as a rapper of the k-pop idol band, and has so far released 17 singles and full-length albums. Sakuraba Nanami debuted in 2007 and has developed her career in diverse fields of the entertainment industry as a singer, actress and Gravuer idol.
It is known that Trumpet on the Cliff started production on 16 August, aiming to hit cinemas next spring.
