JUNG Ji-woo to Helm Chinese Thriller Update

The hit Chinese court thriller Silent Witness is set to be remade in Korea by production house Yong Film with Eungyo (2012) filmmaker JUNG Ji-woo at the helm.

Starring Hong Kong’s Aaron KWOK and China’s CHEN Sicheng, the slick and twisty Silent Witness was a hit in the Third Kingdom in 2013, grossing USD 29.3 million. Directed by FEI Xing, the genre pic received top scores from critics.

Though the Korean update is only in the development stage, it will be produced by Yong Film, which is currently preparing Fingersmith, the latest picture by PARK Chan-wook. Director JUNG, also responsible for Modern Boy (2008) and the adaptation of KANG Woo-suk’s Moss (2010), is currently preparing Fourth Place (working title), a new drama which is now in post-production. The film has yet to confirm casting or set a start date.

The project comes in the midst of heightened activity between Korea and China and follows 2013’s smash hit thriller Cold Eyes (2013), a remake of the HK film Eye in the Sky (2007).
