Taewon Entertainment and Acclaimed Filmmaker to Adapt Comic

LEE Myung-se, director of Nowhere to Hide (1999) and Their Last Love Affair (1996), returns to the director’s chair for the first time in six years since his last film M was released in 2007. Taewon Entertainment, which produced titles including 71-Into the Fire (2010), Love (2007), Marrying the Mafia (2002) and the popular TV series Iris, announced its plan to collaborate with director LEE on Ant Hell (working title).

Ant Hell is based on LEE Hyun-sae’s 1999 comic book of the same title. A leading icon of the Korean comic book world, numerous works by LEE, including LEE Jang-ho’s Baseball Team, Terrorists and Armageddon have been adapted into films. Ant Hell is a thrilling tale of the love, betrayal and revenge of a successful career woman whose life takes a drastic turn after she becomes involved in a dangerous case. Taewon Entertainment states, “Currently director LEE is working on rewriting the script while funding and casting is still in progress.”

Last April, LEE Myung-se was pushed out of the production of The Spy: Undercover Operation due to a difference in opinions with the production company JK Film. LEE Seung-jun, who worked as an assistant director on JK Film-produced titles including Haeundae (2009) and Quick (2011) was hired to direct The Spy: Undercover Operation, which is scheduled to be released this September.

Ant Hell ’s production company is hoping to go into production before the end of this year and have its public release around the summer of 2014.
