Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER to Shoot in Busan

To Capture Various Locations Including Jagalchi Market and Gwangandaegyo Bridge

Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster Black Panther is shooting in Busan, the largest port city in Korea from March 17th. Location shooting will continue at the areas of Busan until the end of March to early April.

The first shoot of the film took place at Busan Jagalchi Market controlling the movement of people and vehicles of two-lane roads. On March 23rd, wild chase sequence was filmed on the Yeongseon-daero, Youngdo, where the hero rides atop a sports car scampering through dozens of cars, while six-lane roads were controlled. Scenes involving helicopters and guns were shot on the Gwanandaegyo Bridge on the 24th.

Black Panther, a hero that made his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, revolves a king T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) of kingdom Wakanda, who is challenged to save his people against enemies seeking after vibranium, a rare metal found in Wakanda. The film is expected to be released in February, 2018. Main filming site in Korea will be at Busan’s landmarks including Gwangalli Beach, Busan Gwanandaegyo Bridge, in front of Dongseo University, Jagalchi Market and areas of Sajik-dong.

Meanwhile, Busan is the second city in Korea, where Asia’s biggest international film festival is held. It is also known as City of Film as successful movies have been filmed in the city, like Friend (2001), Haeundae (2009) and Ode to My Father (2014). In addition, there are big studios, post-production facilities, Korean Film Council (KOFIC) and main VFX companies in Busan.
