In the year 1990, at an out-of-the-way community center in the town of Guisari, a janitor goes on a rampage, murdering all the guest lodgers before killing himself. Ever since then, on the anniversary of the grisly event, disturbing events, including other deaths and suicides, keep taking place at the same location. As a result, the center is shut down and left abandoned for years, during which rumors abound of a ‘guimoon’, a door for ghosts in the building that should anyone enter through, they will never be able to leave the building. In the present day, renowned paranormal investigator Dojin (Kim Kangwoo), the director of a psychic research institute and the son of a shaman who died during an exorcism ritual at the center, makes his way to Guisari in search of answers. Also making the trip to the haunted location are a trio of students planning to film a video about the famed locale. 

After a few weeks of high-octane action and disaster films, Korean multiplexes are once again opening their doors to a local horror film. GUIMOON: The Lightless Door, the feature film debut of filmmaker Shim Deokgeun, is making history this month as the first-ever film produced simultaneously for 4DX and Screen X venues, as well as traditional 2D projection. Leading the cast is The Taste of Money (2012) star Kim Kangwoo, while Kim Sohye of Moonlit Winter (2018) joins him as one of the students.
