Hongseol (OH Yeon-seo) is a diligent university student who works part-time to make ends meet. Despite being a top student, Hongseol decides to take a break from school after Yoojeong (PARK Hae-Jin), a popular, wealthy and handsome older student reveals a sinister side of his personality that makes her feel threatened. Upon her return, however, Hongseol is surprised when Yoojeong is not only nice towards her, but also helpful. Now Hongseol will have to figure out if Yoojeong is the perfect companion or a total psychopath, while also navigating the typical, unpredictable life of a twenty-something.

Popular, long-running webtoon Cheese in the Trap was first adapted into a highly successful television drama in 2016 with PARK Hae-Jin (Snow in Sea Breeze, 2015) cast as Yoojeong. PARK returns to reprise his role in the feature film version while OH Yeon-seo (RUN OFF, 2016) steps in to take over the female lead role of Hongseol originated by KIM Go-eun (Coin Locker Girl, 2015) in the television series. Cheese in the Trap is the second feature film from director KIM Je-yeong, following his directorial debut, the 2013 romantic comedy Queen of the Night.
