Ok-hee, a junior-rank haenyeo diver living in the city, receives an unexpected visit one day from Eun-young, her ex-husband's daughter.

When Ok-hee's son, on the run from debt collectors, disappears and leaves his young child behind, and Ok-hee has an accident just as step-nephew Jun-seo turns up, Eunyoung misses her chance to leave and begins an uneasy life under the same roof.

Desperate for money to win back custody of her daughter, Eun-young tries to sell the laundry shop, the only inheritance her father left behind, but clashes with Ok-hee, who has kept it running for years. A Ray of Sunlight is a Korean family drama with a touch of fantasy that asks whether a laundry shop on the verge of disappearing can survive to become a family's true legacy.
