In a secluded place in the mountains of Kangwon-do in 1972, In-ho, a war orphan, takes his first leave from the army. Since he has no place to go, he goes to a restaurant called "Ahn-byun" which is located between town and the army base. He helps to clean the restaurant, eventually getting food and drinks. He ends up spending the night with a waitress, Chang-hee. The next morning, he shows his ring to her and talks about where he lost his sister.
