DNA and other tests have indicate that one of these men is most likely to be the soldier's father. Woo-hyun is a ceramist who grew up in Hamkyung Province, North Korea. His cousin, Yi-hyun, has a grown up son and daughter, and enjoys an affluent wife who manages a lucrative that he served as chairman of the People's Committee while in North Korea. When the three report to the Intelligence Service, they greet a North Korean soldier with close cropped hair and bleary eyes. The search for a son and their lost history lead the men to confront this agonizing, unusual situation.
