CJ ENM has signed a multi-year distribution deal with Amazon Prime Video India. Under the agreement, more than 100 Korean titles will be rolled out on Prime Video in India over the next two years.
The slate consists of 26 new CJ ENM titles alongside works from the studio's existing library. The deal extends an earlier global distribution agreement between the two companies to the Indian market specifically. New and upcoming releases will carry English subtitles along with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubbing.
Yumi's Cells Season 3 Leads New Titles, Library Favorites Also Included
The first new title to premiere is the romance drama Yumi's Cells Season 3. Yumi's Cells is one of CJ ENM's flagship franchises, based on the webtoon of the same name. The series represents its protagonist's emotions through animated "cell" characters, each corresponding to a different facet of her personality. Season 3 follows Yumi as she enters a new phase in both her personal and professional life. As the title chosen to open the India rollout, attention is on how Yumi's Cells Season 3 will be received by local audiences.
Also among the new titles is The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, a military-themed comedy. It follows a protagonist with a special ability who is assigned to kitchen duty.
The library lineup includes Dear X, Law and the City, Study Group, My Dearest Nemesis, Search: WWW, and Seasons 1 and 2 of Yumi's Cells. Previously aired titles such as The Legend of the Blue Sea, Prison Playbook, and Mother round out the slate.
Jangho Seo, EVP of Platform Division at CJ ENM, said the collaboration reflects the company's ongoing direction of expanding the reach of Korean storytelling.
Global Deal Extended to India, Rollout to Span Two Years
The new agreement builds on the existing global distribution deal between Amazon Prime Video and CJ ENM, expanding its scope to specifically cover the Indian market. International outlets have cited growing demand for Korean content in India as the backdrop for this expansion. Under the rollout plan, the 26 new titles and library works will be added in sequence over the next two years.
