56th Baeksang Arts Awards to Take Place without Audience on June 5

PARASITE, HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD and THE MAN STANDING NEXT Lead Nominees


Following a delay owing to the current pandemic, the 56th edition of the Baeksang Arts Awards are now scheduled to take place on June 5 in the KINTEX center in Ilsan to the West of Seoul, thought they will take place without a live audience.

The nominees for Best Film this year are BONG Joon-ho’s PARASITE (2019), KIM Bora’s House of Hummingbird (2019), WOO Min-ho’s The Man Standing Next, LEE Sang-geun’s EXIT (2019) and KIM Do-young’s KIM JI-YOUNG, BORN 1982 (2019). BONG Joon-hoKIM Bora and WOO Min-ho are also nominated for Best Director, along with LEE Jong-un for Birthday (2019) and CHUNG Ji-young for BLACK MONEY (2019).

The Best Actress nominees are KIM So-jin (Another Child, 2019), KIM Hee-ae (Moonlit Winter, 2019), JEON Do-yeon (Birthday, 2019), JUNG Yu-mi (KIM JI-YOUNG, BORN 1982, 2019) and CHO Yeo-jeong (PARASITE, 2019).

And the nominees for Best Actor are SONG Kang-ho (PARASITE, 2019), LEE Byung-hun (The Man Standing Next), LEE Je-hoon (Time to Hunt), JO Jung-suk (EXIT, 2019) and HAN Suk-kyu (Forbidden Dream, 2019).

Leading all nominees with 12 nominations across 11 categories is PARASITE (2019), while House of Hummingbird (2019) and The Man Standing Next each have six apiece. EXIT (2019) received five nominations, while KIM JI-YOUNG, BORN 1982 (2019) was recognized in four categories and LIM Dae-hyung’s Moonlit Winter (2019) and KIM Cho-hee’s Lucky Chan-sil each have three nominations apiece. Other films that received two nominations include YOON Sung-hyun’s Time to Hunt, JUNG Ji-woo’s Tune in for Love (2019), KIM Yun-seok’s Another Child (2019), and Birthday (2019).
