KOFIC Welcomes New Vice Chairman LEE Joon-dong

LEE to Serve Until November 22nd 2019



LEE Joon-dong has been elected Vice Chairman of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). “On October 31st, KOFIC elected LEE Joon-dong as Vice Chairman.” announced KOFIC. On October 23rd, new Vice Chairman LEE was selected for one of KOFIC’s seven new committees created by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister DO Jong-hwan) and will take charge of the council until October 22nd, 2019.

Born in 1957, LEE Joon-dong graduated from Yeungnam University. His credits include Oasis (2002) and Poetry (2010) which were directed by his older brother LEE Chang-dong. LEE has also produced many independent films by female directors, such as Gina KIM’s Never Forever (2007), Ounie LECOMTE’s A Brand New Life (2009) and July JUNG’s A Girl at My Door (2014). He is currently the president of NOW Film and PINEHOUSE FILM, the latter of which is working on the production of director LEE Chang-dong’s upcoming film Burning.

Meanwhile, KOFIC’s current acting chairman will finish his appointment, stepping down before the end of this year. The KOFIC Chairman is appointed through a system of recruitment, recommendation and verification by the committee.
