2017 KAFA’s Short Films on the KoBiz Online Screening

KAFA Graduation Short Film Collection Begins Its Third Online Screening Service


Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), one of the best film educational institutions in Korea, held its graduation film festival in January. Titled KAFA 33, it premiered short films and animated short films produced by 33rd graduates of KAFA over the past year. 

Meanwhile, KAFA has had more than 600 graduates in various fields including directing, filming, producing and animation since it was founded 34 years ago. It has produced young directors who have received attention from Korean film industry such as JO Sung-hee of The Phantom Detective (2016), HUH Jung of Hide and Seek (2013), UM Tae-hwa of VANISHING TIME: A BOY WHO RETURNED (2016) and LEE Hyun-ju of Our Love Story (2016), as well as famous directors like Bong Joon-ho and CHOI Dong-hoon

This year, brilliant 19 shorts and animated short films from KAFA will be presented on the website of KoBiz Online Screening (screening.koreanfilm.or.kr). The collection includes a variety of genres like crime thriller, romance and fantasy, which are mainly live-action and animated films about worries of various generations and human nature in extreme situations. 

As some of them have already gotten their cinematic qualities, the 18th Jeonju International Film Festival announced last week that it chose two of KAFA short collection, BAE Kyung-heon’s Alone Together and HAN Ka-ram’s Tombstone Refugee for its Korean Competition for Shorts section. 

2017 KAFA SHORT COLLECTION will be available on the website of KoBiz Online Screening from March 9th for three months.
