K-Horror Sequel to Screen Across Asia 


 

WHISPERING CORRIDORS 6: HUMMING (2020), the sixth film in the enduring K-horror franchise, has been picked up for distribution in 12 foreign countries. Sales agent kth locked deals for the film with distributors in Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Coming 11 years after the previous installment A Blood Pledge (2009), WHISPERING CORRIDORS 6: HUMMING is directed by Lee Miyoung, who previously produced The Voice (2005), the fourth entry in the franchise. The horror sequel served as the opening film of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) last summer.

The Whispering Corridors series, which began in 1998 and turned into a franchise with Memento Mori, one of the most celebrated Korean horror films the next year, has become known for launching the careers of both young directors such as Kim Taeyong and Min Kyudong and new actresses like Kong Hyojin and Kim Okvin.

Kim Seohyung, who previously played a different character in The Voice, appears as a teacher who returns to her alma mater as its vice principal. Yet the memories she’s suppressed from her school days start to return to her. Meanwhile, a student at the school, played by Kim Hyeonsoo (The Swordsman, 2020), hears strange ghostly sounds emanating from an abandoned bathroom.

The sixth installment in the Whispering Corridors franchise opened in Korean theaters on June 17.
