KANG Je-gyu's record breaking film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War received a wide-scale release in France on May 11. Upcoming releases have also been scheduled for other European territories such as the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Scandinavia, while the film is expected to be released in Spain, Portugal and Italy by the end of the year. Distributor UIP released the film on 108 screens, which ranks as the second-biggest release ever for a Korean filmafter Musa (2001). Tae Guk Gi drew 24,313 admissions over its first week for an estimated $171,270, and placed 20th in the chart. Korean production company MK Pictures also held a special party at Cannes to commemorate the film's French release.
