LEE Gae-byok’s Begins LUCK-KEY Follow-Up

Upcoming comedy Cheer Up, Mr. Lee (working title) kicked off production on June 23. Featuring CHA Seung-won in the lead, the film is the latest from LUCK-KEY (2016) director LEE Gae-byok.

CHA features as Chul-soo, a man who has it all but seems to be missing something. One day, Saet-byul, a daughter he never knew he had, turns up before him and together they go on a trip. Saet-byul lives with a serious medical condition that prevents her from going to school, yet she is a strong child who becomes a partner for Chul-soo on his travels.

Last seen in a supporting role in LEE Hae-young’s hit Believer, CHA has been a star for two decades, with major credits that include Kick the Moon (2001), Murder, Take One (2005) and 71-Into the Fire (2010).

Playing his daughter will be young actress UHM Chae-young, who previously had small roles in Wonderful Nightmare (2015) and THE GREAT ACTOR (2016). CHA’s Believer co-star PARK Hae-joon is playing Young-soo, the younger brother who always worries about Chul-soo and goes looking for him.

Also on board are KIM Hye-ok (A Man and a Woman, 2016) as Saet-byul’s grandmother, AN Kil-kang (The Divine Move, 2014) as a gym manager and JEON Hye-bin (Mermaid Unlimited, 2017) as Young-soo’s wife.

Director LEE scored box office gold with LUCK-KEY, which attracted 6.98 million viewers (USD 50.61 million). He will be reunited with production company Yong Film, which was also responsible for Believer and hits such as PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden (2016).
