Recommendations Will be Accepted Until January 5

Asia’s largest film festival is looking for some new leadership.

On December 19, the board of directors of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) announced that it would accept public recommendations for the festival’s next organizing committee chairman and festival director.

According to an announcement on the BIFF website, the board of directors held a meeting on December 5 to look for ways to stabilize the film festival and decided it was important to fill the positions quickly. “In order to solve any urgent problems and to avoid any disruptions in the business matters of the 2018 Busan International Film Festival, it is important that we elect a new chairman of the festival organizing committee as well as a new festival director,” the board revealed through the recruitment post.

According to the announcement, ideal candidates will have a wealth of film industry experience, a strong network of domestic and international film industry contacts, an understanding of the constantly changing global film industry and a future vision for the development and direction of the Busan International Film Festival.

The board of directors will accept recommendations from individuals, as well as organizations, and will allow those interested to submit multiple candidates without limit.

Recommendations will be accepted from December 26 to January 5 and an official recommendation form can be found on the BIFF website.

A decision will be made by the end of the board of directors’ regular general meeting, which will take place in February.
