Cinema Chain Launches Programs to Find Local Filmmakers and Support their Productions

CJ CGV has opened the Film Community Center, a cultural space for filmmakers, at CGV JWalk in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Film Community Center consists of a film library, a lounge and seminar rooms. The center’s film library, which houses about 300 books including original novels of films, art books and film theory books, is expected to provide cinematic inspiration. The center will unveil various cinema classes and programs such as ‘Movie Talk’ in its lounge and seminar rooms. Furthermore, audiences can watch local movies and festival films from JAFF-NETPAC, Indonesia’s biggest film festival, at the ‘Art House’ which can accommodate more than 140 people.

In addition, CJ CGV will launch projects to discover young Indonesian filmmakers and to support their film productions. Submissions will be accepted through CGV Indonesia’s official SNS or email until August 28th (local time). From that point, 10 projects will be selected through evaluations. Among them, five projects chosen by online votes will have opportunities to pitch to professional mentors like directors, producers and screenwriters. Three finalists selected by the mentors will be given chances to visit CGV’s film camp and to receive financial support for their film production. Finally, at the program the best project will be entered in JAFF-NETPAC in December this year.
