HIDE AND SEEK Director’s New Mystery-Horror Gets Global Launch

Mystery-horror The Mimic, director HUH Jung’s follow-up to his 2013 Hide and Seek, has been presold to 122 countries ahead of its domestic launch next month. Contents Panda, the global distribution arm of Next Entertainment World, secured sales for the film across the Americas and in several major European countries, such as France, the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as markets across Asia including Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Singapore.

Among its global release will be theatrical releases in ten markets, including South America, an unusual case for a Korean film according to the distributor.

A Tale Of Two Sisters (2003) star YUM Jung-ah features as a mother whose son disappears because of her mother-in-law. After moving to the countryside, she meets a lost girl near a cave and takes her in. The girl begins to mimic the mother’s real daughter and strange things begin to happen to the family, all because of a mysterious creature connected to the cave.

Released in late summer, HUH’s debut Hide and Seek was a surprise hit that welcomed 5.6 million viewers and turned SON Hyun-ju into a star. Co-starring in his latest is PARK Hyuk-kwon, also in theaters this summer with A Taxi Driver, as the mother’s husband. The Mimic opens in Korea on August 17th.
