Expectations for JISEUL Heat Up

Awards Chances for JISEUL Rise Ahead of Its First Overseas Screening

The Sundance Film Festival, a meeting place for the year’s independent films from all over the world, is to open on January 17th. Korean director O Muel’s Jiseul is in the feature competition section and it will be screened on the 20th, raising expectations of the film winning an award there. The film sold out at every screening in Korea and it is the only Korean film to be included in the feature competition section at this year’s Sundance.

The Sundance Film Festival is well-known for discovering the COEN Brothers, Quentin TARANTINO and Wim WENDERS. Meanwhile director PARK Chan-wook’s Stoker is to be unveiled at Sundance for the first time. It is PARK’s first foray into Hollywood. THe short film by KIM Tae-yong You Are More Than Beautiful and an animation by KIM Song-E will also be screened there.
